Drawing From Curiosity And Creativity

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself, pace your resources. "We all feel like the pacifiers have been yanked out of our lives.” Author Elizabeth Gilbert shares this insight about our world right now during her April 2 conversation with TED leader, Chris Anderson. Her point being – that we went from feeling safe and content to experiencing a complete state of having no control.

While we’re reading helpful articles and blogs to offset daily, disheartening news – I offer this TED interview as a profound and insightful piece. Liz shares authentic stories to illustrate how you can use intuition to guide you, instead of fear. She reminds us to let go of control, because we didn’t have it in the first place. Liz embraces tough questions around grief (one listener has lost 5 loved ones to the virus) and helps us understand why compassion trumps empathy.

“Think of this as of it as a retreat, not a quarantine.” I love this idea. During the interview, Liz also suggests we draw on curiosity and creativity to grow from this situation.

That’s exactly what’s happening – we’re receiving gifts of love, genuine spirit and pure talent in the media – from musicians, vocalists and dancers on James Corden’s Homefest, to John Krasinski’s YouTube Channel Some Good News.

We thought it would be fun to share what Bruce Sachs’ family is doing to stay curious and be creative during this stay-at-home period.

Bruce has been taking the time to hang art from his family’s collection. Below are some snippets of the art, including pieces from his collection of screen-printed posters. The artwork reminds us to love, to play, to explore and to stay positive.

What are you doing to make this time a retreat and not a quarantine? We’d love to hear from you!
